I treat sound design as the starting point in a film's sound track. My goal, is to use sound to communicate the director's vision, to (in a psychoacoustical sense) facilitate the emotions of the film's audience. Because of my knowledge of sound and it's ability to induce certain emotions, I believe that a well plannned sound design can take a film to the next level. Experienced filmmakers understand the major role sound has in film. Often, the less experienced find this out too late: Even a brilliant script and superb acting may not circumvent the adverse affects of an inadequate sound design or poor sound quality. I've been sound engineering for over seventeen years, and I have a simple
philosophy when it comes to recording, you'll never hear me say,"We'll fix
that in the mix." I've been a musician songwriter so, I know the importance
of getting the overall feel and emotion across on tape. A song should be able
to breath, and it can only do that if you can hear all the instruments.
I do all my mastering on the Sonic Solutions, 98% of all albums are mastered
on this system. In this phase I put the final polish to the album. I master
everything to compact disc.
Automatic Dialog Replacement should be done in a relaxing setting in order to
get the very best performance from the actor. I take great care in making
sure that you can't tell the difference from the production sound and the ADR
sound. We match the presence and tonality, by using the same microphones as
was used in the production
